Welcome back to Ultrasound. If you need a refresher on what you should already have learned as a PGY1, please review the EM PGY1 Curriculum.  As a second year, in addition to group afternoon proctored scanning sessions, you will be responsible for independent scanning in the morning and reviewing qPath.

By completion of this block, your general goals will be to be able to identify hydronephrosis, abdominal aortic aneurysm, aortic dissection, cellulitis, tamponade, right ventricular strain, pneumonia, pleural effusion and pneumothorax.  In addition, you should be comfortable with using color doppler as well as adjusting the dynamic range.

Your requirements during this block are as follows:

  • Completion of the following topic modules including post-assessment:
  • Attend Evening Curricular Events
    • There will be several opportunities each block to attend evening curriculum events that are held in conjunction with the medical school.  These vary from block to block, but you are expected to attend at least 2 events in the block.
  • Present Journal Article and Case Report
  • Completion of a total of 300 scans by the end of second year (MedHub + qPath).

As always, everything you need to succeed in this block should be here, if it is lacking information that you feel is necessary, please let us know.
